About the Author
Ava McCarthy was born in Dublin and attained degrees in Physics and Nuclear Medicine before going onto work for the London Stock Exchange for six years. She currently works in software in County Dublin, where she lives with husband Tom and two children
Dead Secret is unlike any book I have read. It is dark, disturbing, and brings up issues normally left unspoken.
And yet Ava McCarthy has a way of weaving these dark worlds together in a compelling journey of self-discovery, and discovery of family. It is very well-written and speaks to McCarthy’s obvious talent with words.
However, it is also the type of book that I am afraid to say too much about, for fear of giving away any of the ‘dead secrets.’ Suffice it to say, it will keep you guessing page to page, and won’t let you stop until you have finished the last line.
I do need to say that if you have been the victim of any type of abuse in the past, this may not be a good book for you. I see the potential for it being damaging or emotionally difficult for you. Please be advised.
I give Dead Secret 5 out of 5 Stars
Content (0 being none and 5 being A LOT)
Quite a lot of swearing, including many uses of the F-words
Abuse of all types (emotional, physical, sexual) throughout the book
A couple sexual abuse situations, though nothing graphic. Other sexual innuendos.
Dead Secret is currently not available. It’s release date is January 14th, 2016.
